We’re delighted that the Technology Strategy Board funded project Things to Come with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra has been shortlisted for a national award at this year’s BIMAs.
The BIMA Awards are the largest award ceremony for the interactive industry in the UK (closely followed by Manchester Digital’s Big Chip Awards for the northwest), so we’re delighted to be in the running for a gong.

Things to Come is a pilot educational project to introduce school children to the experience of orchestral music before they make a school visit to the Philharmonic Hall itself. The whiteboard friendly app lets users seamlessly segue from wide shots of the orchestra to close ups of the conductor Vasily Petrenko to solos of several musicians and back again to the orchestra. The final section includes a wonderful orchestral visualisation that helps people understand the pace and rhythm of the piece of music.
The pilot receives ooohs of delight from everyone who sees it. Stardotstar and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic are now seeking funding for a wider scale project that can reach the 22,000 young RLP visitors every year.

Stardotstar are no strangers to the BIMAs with 4 nominations in 2008, and 3 awards in 2007. This year the team are up against a project called ‘High School Musical 3’ ( whatever that is ) in association with Disney and Amazon ( whoever they are ) ;-)
