The Cotswolds are stunningly beautiful. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), they are punctuated by rolling hills, beech woods, stone-walled fields and picture perfect villages. But despite all this verdant beauty, many of the 10 year olds living on the outskirts of the Cotswolds don’t know much about the AONB, what it is, or why they should be interested in it.

So Stardotstar created three bespoke Cotswold stone-clad kiosks designed to enthuse children while they’re out in the countryside. Each kiosk features Quantum Sheep and the Wonderful ’Wolds, an action-packed interactive 3D game that features a time travelling sheep. Stronger than a steam plough and faster than a speeding bullock, our fleecy hero takes users through four eras of the Cotswolds: Prehistoric, Roman, Medieval and Victorian. The idea is that young visitors to the Cotswolds can play the game in situ and, as they play, learn more about the wildlife and landscape that surround them, and how human intervention has changed both over the past 6,000 years.

The accompanying lesson plan (3239kb) is as enjoyable for the teachers as the game is for the children.

Quantum Sheep and his kiosks tour the Cotswolds, they’re currently located at:
