Over the years, content management systems have come and gone, some very clever and others full of functionality. But no matter their technical specification, they all have one thing in common: they have generally been developed by hardcore programmers for hardcore programmers – meaning that the end user needs a manual the size of a telephone directory just to get started.

As the majority of our clients and end users aren’t hardcore programmers we spotted a gap in the market for a content management system (CMS) that is simple and efficient to use for normal people like you and me. And to fill that gap we devised StardotSite, a CMS that is just as clever and just as full of functionality as the best on the market, but also happens to be usable by ordinary, non-techy-programming people.

We believe that there is only one thing that a CMS needs to do: let you edit your website. Some may argue that a CMS should let you create users with different permissions, set up editorial approval, create password protected pages or let you move articles around a website. We agree. But we also strongly believe that all that functionality shouldn’t get in the way of the one thing that the ordinary web editor needs to do every single day: edit their website.

So StardotSite focuses on the everyday tasks that web editors need to undertake, allowing them to easily update their website. The slightly more complex tasks are placed at a subtle distance from key activities, letting the user get on with their job without worrying unduly about, say, whether they should switch on the RSS feed while they’re doing it.

Websites running on StardotSite include RPX.org.uk, a professional network of park rangers based in the Northwest; the UK’s first ceramics biennial British Ceramics Biennial; the children’s drama charity Webplay and more…

Sites about to launch on StardotSite include New Economy and soon Corridor Manchester.

Version 3 of StardotSite is near release ensuring even sexier user interface, and a couple of new and exciting directions…

A content management system designed for people not programmers.

”Over the years I’ve used many expensive Content Management Systems but Stardotsite is the only one I’ve actually been able to use without the manual. Love it”
